Auto insurance is the type of cover that one obtains when they have their own vehicle. The vehicle owned by the insured person could range from a motor bicycle to a car or even to a truck. Other vehicles such as vans, buses, Lorries, SUVs etc too are eligible to be insured by this same policy. The main purpose of having auto insurance is to be covered and financially protected on the road. This financial coverage includes protection of the vehicle financially against any sort of physical damage that it may endure during its various trips on the road. The auto insurance also covers any kind of liabilities that may occur after accidents as well. In many developed parts of the world, having auto insurance has been made compulsory by law. This means that a vehicle cannot be driven in public unless it has the proper insurance policies and coverage. In some countries a driver having insurance is a must.
